New Rochelle ArtsFest Coming to CNR
The New Rochelle Council on the Arts‘ annual ArtsFest will once again bring local arts enthusiasts to The College of New Rochelle’s Castle Gallery and Mooney Center Gallery, on September 28 and 29.
On exhibit at the Castle Gallery will be Debris Field, a show featuring 16 artists who repurpose common materials into objects “imbued with beauty, thoughtfulness, even humor — a reincarnation of the practical into the sublime.
The Mooney Center Gallery will present Sequence of Bases, a series of “disordered portrait scenarios” by Raquel Echanique. “My distinctive visual style is characterized by circular motioned brushwork that bursts polychromatic energy,” says Echanique. “My portraits are stirred up by swirls that pull, twine, divide and modify anatomy in different directions, resulting in a sight of hypnotic relaxation.”
The Castle Gallery and Mooney Center Gallery, both on the College’s New Rochelle campus, will be holding opening receptions from 12 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, to coincide with the ArtsFest, which offers “Culture Trolleys” to bring people to institutions throughout New Rochelle.
